Congratulations! You’re officially an owner of custom solid wood cabinets created by Hawk Industries! Your commercial space will look professional and polished and seamlessly integrate into the rest of your space. But how do you clean them?! Solid wood cabinets are made with high-quality material that you don’t want to waste, so be aware of these do’s and don’ts when it comes to your custom cabinets!
Do…
- Be Gentle!
Leave the abrasive scrubbers for your pots and pans. A gentle touch and cleaning solution will keep your solid wood cabinets sanitized and in the best condition.
Not sure which cleaner to use? You can easily make your own! Mix one part of either mild dish soap or vinegar with two parts hot water, and you’re good to go!
- Use Baking Soda on the Tough Spots.
When a mild cleaner doesn’t work, break out the baking soda for the tough spots! If you’re battling grease, grime, or other hard-to-remove stains, this is a great solution without having to replace cabinets!
Mix one part baking soda with two parts water, then dab the solution onto the stain with a cloth and let it sit for a few minutes. Next, wipe the cabinet with a dampened cloth and gently work away any grime until it’s gone. Finally, don’t forget to dry the surface with a clean cloth!
- Add a toothbrush to your cleaning supplies.
Grab your old toothbrush and get to work! If your cabinets include a more intricate design, it may be tricky to get into all the little cracks and crevices. With a toothbrush, you can gently brush away any grease or grime with great control!
Don’t…
- Soak.
If you want to clean your cabinets, refrain from soaking them! Soaking wood cabinets can damage the material, paint, and everything you’ve invested your money into! Instead, put your mild cleaning solution in a spray bottle and spray onto a cloth, evenly wiping down the entire cabinet for best results.
- Skip cleaning day.
Never skip cleaning day! While it’s always great to wipe down cabinets regularly, it’s imperative to take some time for a deep clean at least twice a year. Get all the contents out of your cabinets, and wipe down EVERYTHING. Inside, outside, shelving, the works! By doing this, your solid wood cabinets will last for years!
- Let your solution run onto the hinges.
While a mild cleaning solution is perfectly fine for your cabinets, the hinges must not get wet! Avoid rusty hinges by dusting and wiping them down with a dry microfiber cloth. If the hinges get dirty, add a couple of drops of your cleaning solution to your microfiber cloth.
And there you have it! Let us know if you have any cabinet-cleaning tips that have changed your life. We’d love to hear from you!
