Sep 24, 2021 | Blog

Looking to upgrade rooms in your home to enjoy or to enhance sale value?  Consider putting granite or quartz tops in your kitchen and master bathroom.  These are the rooms that most homebuyers inspect carefully and judge critically. They will pay top dollar, even beyond the asking price, to have that showcase kitchen or bathroom with the luxurious look of quartz or granite countertops.  Whether kitchen sink counters, kitchen islands, bathroom vanities, or soaking tubs, let us help you to create that wow factor.

Quartz vs Granite Countertops: Which is Better?

Granite

Aesthetically, granite and quartz give kitchens and bathrooms a more elegant and clean look.  Yet, there are differences. Granite is a very hard stone, 100% natural, and heat resistant.   Mined from quarries found around the world, granite is cut  into slabs and polished to a fine finish.   This makes each piece of granite unique.   However, this also means what you select in the showroom may not be exactly like the slab that ends up on your countertop.  It’s a good idea to view and approve the granite natural stone slabs prior to fabrication.  In terms of pricing, on average, granite is less expensive than quartz.

Quartz

Quartz, although costlier than granite, has exploded in popularity.  Man-made, thus, not 100% natural, quartz countertops have the look of stone yet are manufactured using 95% ground natural quartz and 5% polymer resins. While granite offers many options in terms of appearance, you may have to search for the right piece that matches your color scheme.  Colorization is more consistent with quartz than with granite.  Slabs will look much like showroom samples, making the selection process easier.  Like granite, quartz is heat resistant, however, can scorch, so heating pads must be used at all times. Because it isn’t porous like granite, quartz countertops are easier to maintain and keep bacteria-free.
